Gunnar wins double again
Gunnar won double at the Icelandic National BJJ Championship last Saturday winning both his weight class and the absolute. This is the third year the Icelandic National BJJ Championship is held and Gunnar has won both his weight class and the absolute in all three, winning all of his matches so far. Around 80 competitors from 5 clubs participated in the championship. Gunnar’s home club, Mjölnir, won most medals of the five clubs including gold in all weight classes except two. In the absolute all the medals went to competitors from Mjölnir. The picture below shows the medalists of the absolute division, all of them are from Mjölnir. They are from the left: Þráinn Kolbeinsson (silver), Gunnar Nelson (gold) and Sighvatur Helgason (brons). Gunnar fought Þráinn and Sighvatur both on his way to the gold but in Iceland competitors don't close a division even though they come from the same club. They fight it out.
