Gunnar first to stop Alexander Butenko
After 17 months away from competing in MMA Gunnar stepped in the cage again last Saturday night to face the talented Ukrainian fighter Alexander "Iron Capture" Butenko as the main event at the Cage Contender XII show in Dublin, Ireland. After landing two vicious leg kicks Gunnar threw Butenko with a beautiful Uchi Mata (inner thigh throw), passing his guard immediately into side control. From there Gunnar secured his dominant and even though Butenko tried all he could to bridge up and get out Gunnar soon got the mount from where his landed some solid punches and elbows. At one time Gunnar looked up to the referee as to see if he wasn't gonna stop the fight and as he didn't Gunnar secured Butenko's arm for an armbar submitting Butenko 4:21 min. into the first round. This is the first time Butenko has been stopped in his MMA career but until now he had only lost by judge's decision and finished 10 out of his 12 wins with submission, thereof 6 by armbar. Gunnar is still unbeaten in his MMA career ending all of his 9 wins in the 1st round except 1 that he finished with a KO in the 2nd. Below is a video of the fight.
