Gunnar facing Sato insted of Siva at UFC London
Claudio Silva is forced out due to injury and Takashi Sato will be facing Gunnar at the UFC fight night in London on March 19.
Gunnar was originally supposed to fight Claudio Silva, but Silva reported a knee injury to the UFC last week.
Takashi Sato has stepped in but Sato is a 31-year-old Japanese who is 16-4 in his career in MMA and he has been in the UFC since 2019.
Sato and Gunnar have both signed the bout agreement and the UFC confirmed the welterweight bout today.
Of his 16 victories, Sato has 11 knockouts and is therefore dangerous standing. He is also a 2nd degree black belt in judo and has won two fights with submission. Sato is therefore a completely different opponent than Silva, who is a wrestler by nature and a solid BJJ black belt and chooses to take the fight to the ground.
Those Icelanders who have tickets for UFC London can breathe a sigh of relief now that a new opponent has been confirmed.
