Gunnar facing Alexander Butenko
Gunnar will be facing the very strong and talented Ukrainian fighter Alexander "Iron Capture" Butenko as the main event at the Cage Contender XII show in Dublin, Ireland, on February 25th. Butenko is on a great run in MMA having won 10 out of his 11 last fights and he has never been stopped in his MMA career, his losses coming only by judge's decision. Being a black belt in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Combat Sambo Butenko has the amazing submission rate of 83,33% in his MMA wins. He is a cousin of Alexey Oleinik, and trains with him and fighters like Igor Vovchanchin, and the brothers Aleksander and Fedor Emelianenko, Fedor being as people know claimed by many as the greatest MMA fighter ever.
Gunnar will now be returning to the MMA scene having taken 17 months of from MMA competition. He is now in Dublin training with John Kavanagh preparing for this fight. Over there is also Arni "The Ice Viking" Isaksson who will be fighting on the same card against Rich "Souza" Gorey.
