Good night Eugene
The was some great anticipation for Gunnar's fight against the local Birmingham hero, Eugene Fadiora, at Bamma 4 in the National Indoor Arena last Saturday. Both fighters were putting their undefeated record on the line, Fadiora being 10-0 before the fight (19-0 in all with semipro and pro) and Gunnar coming of his 7 win against Danny Mitchell less than month ago.
Eugene got great support from his local crowd but that as far as it went. Gunnar silenced the 6000 English attendees 3 minutes and 51 second into the 1st round. The fighters felt each other out for a while before Gunnar stormed in for the takedown denying Fadiora even a single shot. Fadiora delayed the takedown for a few second with some good takedown defence but couldn’t fight of the Icelander who put him soon on the canvas. After that it was Gunnar’s world.
Passing to side control and dropping some hammer fist bombs Gunnar took Fadiora’s back when he tried to blast his way up. He then put the hooks in and secured a RNC even though it seemed to be over Fadiora’s chin. Fadiora manage to stand up only to find himself in a figure-four body lock and was forced to tap out and almost passed out before the referee rushed in to keep him on his feet. This was Gunnar 8 win in a row having finished them all, 7 in the first round and 1 with a KO in the second round.
